Following the publication of The Road to Crécy, a book on the campaign and battle in 1346 (with Morgen Witzel) - described by Ken Follet as 'the best book on the Battle of Crécy' - Marilyn was a historical advisor for Ken Follett's novel World Without End and appeared with him on the South Bank Show.

Marilyn has interests in medieval economic and military history and a passion for bringing the riches of medieval source material to a wider public.  A popular presenter at  conferences and in academia, Marilyn also runs a history and art tour company in the West Country of England.
